Motörhead's Lost 1976 Album The Manticore Tapes Set for June Release

Motörhead will release "The Manticore Tapes," a previously lost album recorded in 1976, on June 27th to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary. The album features the first-ever studio recordings of the iconic "Three Amigos" lineup: Lemmy Kilmister, Fast Eddie Clarke, and Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, captured at Emerson, Lake & Palmer's Manticore Studio in Fulham. These raw and unfiltered tapes, restored by longtime producer Cameron Webb, include early versions of classic songs like "Motörhead" and "Iron Horse / Born to Lose," offering a rare glimpse into a crucial period when the band's future was uncertain. The release will be available in multiple formats, including a deluxe expanded bookpack with unreleased live recordings from 1977. The album highlights Motörhead's journey from struggling beginnings to rock 'n' roll immortality and sheds new light on the band's early history, including the role of Frank Kennington, a former roadie and brief manager who helped book the band into the Manticore Studio. This archival release stands as a powerful reminder of Motörhead's raw brilliance and enduring legacy despite Lemmy's passing nearly a decade ago.
