Bicyclists Killed in Separate Woodside, Elk Grove Collisions

Two separate fatal bicyclist collisions occurred in California recently. In Woodside, a bicyclist was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Skyline and LaHonda roads on Friday afternoon, later dying at Stanford Hospital; the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and has asked witnesses to come forward. Sheriff Christina Corpus emphasized the importance of sharing the road safely among all users. Meanwhile, in Elk Grove, a 39-year-old Sacramento man was fatally hit early Friday morning while sitting on his bicycle on Calvine Road. The driver of the white Toyota involved in the Elk Grove crash remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities; speed and impairment were ruled out as factors. Both incidents are under investigation with victim identification pending notification of next of kin.
