Two prominent Malayalam actors, Mukesh and Jayasurya, are facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct, with FIRs filed against them following claims made by actress Minu Muneer. Mukesh has been charged with non-bailable offenses related to assaulting women and trespassing, while Jayasurya faces accusations of sexual assault dating back to 2008, involving harassment during the filming of a movie. The allegations have emerged in the context of heightened scrutiny in the Malayalam film industry following the Justice Hema Committee report, which exposed systemic issues of sexual violence. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently investigating these cases, with multiple actresses coming forward with complaints, leading to a total of 17 registered cases against various industry figures. Mukesh has publicly denied the allegations, claiming that Muneer attempted to blackmail him, while Muneer detailed her experiences of abuse in a Facebook post. As a result of these allegations, there is growing pressure for Mukesh to resign from his political position within the CPI(M).
