Fires Cause Damage Across U.S. and California

On July 2, 2025, multiple wildfires broke out in Trinity County, California, including the Deer, Sink, and Granite Fires burning on federal land, with no containment reported and causes still unknown. A separate fire on private land in the area burned 0.5 acres in six hours. Across the U.S., residential fires caused significant displacement: a fire in Toledo, Ohio, impacted at least six apartment units; an unattended candle sparked a blaze in Roanoke County that displaced four people. In Two Rivers, Wisconsin, a house fire left residents homeless and killed a dog, while a residential fire in Portsmouth, Virginia, displaced three men. A large fire in Derwood, Maryland, destroyed one home, damaged two others, and caused $1 million in damage, displacing a family. Separately, accidental mobile home fires in Kent, UK, resulted in the deaths of two dogs but no human injuries.
