Nottingham Taxi Driver Sentenced to 16 Years for Sexual Assaults

Zaheer Hussain, a Nottingham taxi and Uber driver, was sentenced to 11 years in prison with an additional five years on extended license after being convicted of sexually assaulting two young female passengers in 2022 and 2023. Hussain targeted vulnerable women, one of whom was 18 and intoxicated, and took them to isolated locations before assaulting them, abusing the trust placed in him as a driver. He further attempted to bribe one of his victims with £6,000 to withdraw her complaint, an act to which he pleaded guilty, and was also issued a restraining order to prevent future contact with his victims. Victim impact statements highlighted the profound and lasting trauma caused by Hussain's actions, with one woman stating the assaults had permanently changed her perspective on nightlife and personal safety.
