Los Angeles DA Meets with Menendez Family

Hochman described the meeting as 'productive,' where family members expressed their views on the brothers’ potential release, especially in light of new evidence regarding past abuse. Despite support from many relatives, Hochman emphasized that the quantity of support is less significant than the quality of the information presented. The brothers' resentencing hearing, initially scheduled for December, has been postponed to January to allow Hochman more time to review extensive evidence, including prison records and trial transcripts. The previous DA, George Gascon, had recommended a reduced sentence, but Hochman criticized this as a political maneuver. The Menendez brothers' supporters argue that they would not face the same conviction today due to greater awareness of the effects of sexual abuse.
