The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has initiated a nationwide project to enhance airport security by installing advanced CT scanners at checkpoints, starting with Vancouver International Airport. These scanners, which provide 360-degree computerized X-ray imaging, allow passengers to keep liquids, aerosols, gels, and large electronics in their carry-on bags, expediting the security process. The project, which began in September 2024, is funded with $23 million from CATSA and an additional $30 million from the Vancouver airport for space renovations. CATSA plans to roll out these upgrades to other Canadian airports over several years, significantly improving both security measures and passenger convenience.
