Search Continues for Missing Boaters on Lake Monona, Mukilteo

Authorities and volunteer organizations have been conducting an extensive search for a missing boater on Lake Monona after a small catamaran capsized last Friday night, casting four people into the water. Three of the boaters were rescued, but one adult man, reportedly not wearing a life jacket and not from the Madison area, remains missing. The search, led by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and supported by groups like Bruce’s Legacy and K9 SOS, has involved advanced sonar equipment, dogs, and both land and water teams. Weather conditions briefly halted the operation, but efforts resumed as the Memorial Day weekend approached. The Olin Park boat launch was temporarily closed to aid the search but has since reopened, and authorities are urging the public to exercise boating safety. In a separate incident, a search is also underway in Washington’s Possession Sound for three missing people after their boat sank, with one survivor rescued by a good Samaritan.
