Nokia, Telia Complete Historic 5G Slice Trial Across Three Countries

Nokia, Telia, and the Finnish Defense Forces have successfully completed the world's first standalone 5G slice handover across multiple countries, demonstrating significant advancements in 5G capabilities for defense. The trial, conducted in Finland during a Nordic exercise, showcased the ability to maintain a secure and continuous data connection as it transitioned across three different networks in three countries. This breakthrough is crucial for modern military operations, allowing personnel to maintain access to vital applications and services beyond national borders. Nokia's President of Mobile Networks, Tommi Uitto, highlighted that this technology enables secure communications for collaborative missions, while Major General Jarmo Vähätiitto of the Finnish Defense Command emphasized its dual-use possibilities within the NATO framework.
