NBA Names Finalists for 2024-25 Social Justice Champion Award

The NBA has announced five finalists for the 2024-25 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award: Chris Boucher (Toronto Raptors), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), Harrison Barnes (San Antonio Spurs), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), and CJ McCollum (New Orleans Pelicans). The award honors players who advance social justice and equity, with the winner receiving $100,000 for a charity of their choice. Boucher has impacted over 1,000 youths in Toronto and Montreal through scholarships, mental health advocacy, and community programs focused on Black and Caribbean youth. Holiday supports Boston-based entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities and has distributed over $5 million in grants through his Social Impact Fund. Barnes has led court refurbishments and contributed to education and local nonprofits, while Adebayo and McCollum have supported underserved communities through scholarships and mentorship programs. The winner will be revealed during the NBA Playoffs.
