Brinks Guard Shoots Robber During Daytime Chicago Loop Altercation

A Brinks armored truck security guard shot and wounded a suspected robber during an attempted robbery in Chicago's busy Loop district in broad daylight on Wednesday morning. The guard was exiting a Saks Off 5th store with a bag of cash when the suspect tried to forcibly take the bag and punched the guard in the jaw before fleeing. The guard fired multiple shots, hitting the suspect at least once; three shell casings were recovered at the scene. Despite his injuries, the suspect escaped briefly but was apprehended shortly after and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition. The incident disrupted local transit services, including CTA bus routes and the Blue Line, and prompted a precautionary lockdown of a nearby Chicago Public Schools Board meeting. Charges against the suspect were still pending as of Thursday morning.
