Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced plans for a new 14-lane expressway between Mumbai and Bengaluru, expected to begin construction within six months, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion on the existing route. This project will connect Mumbai's Atal Setu to Pune's Ring Road, significantly reducing travel time and diverting a substantial number of vehicles from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Meanwhile, in Telangana, R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy revealed that the expansion of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway will commence soon at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore, with additional infrastructure projects underway in Nalgonda. These include the construction of drinking water tanks and improved road systems, funded at Rs 450 crore. However, an NHAI official has clarified that there is no current formal proposal for the 14-lane expressway, indicating a focus on upgrades to the existing highways instead. Both areas are seeing significant infrastructure developments aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing travel times.
