Manchester Approves UK’s Tallest Tower Outside London

Manchester City Council has approved plans for two significant skyscraper projects in the city, including the 76-storey Viadux Two, which will become the tallest building in the UK outside of London at 246 meters. Developed by Salboy and featuring Nobu-branded residences, the tower will include 452 luxury flats and a 160-bed hotel. Alongside this, Glenbrook's 44-storey tower on Whitworth Street West will provide 364 sustainable homes and various amenity spaces, emphasizing the city's commitment to urban development and sustainability. Both projects are expected to significantly enhance Manchester's skyline and contribute to the local housing market by offering a mix of luxury and affordable accommodations. Despite some objections regarding the height and heritage impact, planning officers noted the substantial public benefits of these developments. Construction on the Viadux Two is expected to begin later this year, while Glenbrook plans to start work in early 2026.
