Yogesh Kathuniya Wins Second Silver in Paris
India's Yogesh Kathuniya won his second consecutive Paralympic silver medal in the Men's Discus Throw F56 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 with a season-best throw of 42.22 meters. The gold medal was claimed by Brazil's Claudiney Batista dos Santos, who set a new Paralympic record with a throw of 46.86 meters. Kathuniya's achievement adds to India's medal tally, bringing it to eight medals in the Games. Born in Bahadurgarh, Kathuniya overcame Guillain-Barre Syndrome with the help of his mother, who learned physiotherapy to aid his recovery. He was inspired to join para sports during his time at Kirori Mal College and has since become a prominent figure in para-athletics, winning multiple international medals and receiving the Arjuna Award in 2021.
