Nelly denies drug Possession

Rapper Nelly, real name Cornell Haynes Jr., was arrested in St. Louis on August 8 for alleged drug possession and lack of vehicle insurance, although his attorney Scott Rosenblum refuted the drug charges. According to Rosenblum, Nelly was detained after winning a jackpot at a casino, where an officer claimed a background check was necessary, despite Nelly having previously collected winnings without such checks. The arrest stemmed from an active warrant for a 2018 traffic violation regarding no insurance, which Nelly had not been notified about. Rosenblum criticized the officer's conduct, claiming there was no probable cause for the arrest and asserting that Nelly was targeted by an 'overzealous' officer. Nelly was released later that day, and his legal team plans to request an inquiry into the officer's actions. The rapper and his wife Ashanti are also expecting their first child together.
