Baker Hughes, Frontier Accelerate US Carbon Capture Partnership

Baker Hughes has entered into a partnership with Frontier Infrastructure to enhance large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) and power solutions in the United States. This collaboration will focus on developing Frontier's Sweetwater Carbon Storage Hub in Wyoming, which aims to provide open-access CO₂ storage for industrial emitters and Midwest ethanol producers. Baker Hughes will contribute advanced technologies, including gas turbines and CO₂ compression systems, to support both CCS initiatives and power generation. The partnership responds to increasing energy demands driven by the growth of data centers and industrial operations, with expectations for record power needs this year. The first CO₂ injection at the Sweetwater hub is planned for late 2025, following the acquisition of necessary permits and the commencement of drilling activities. This strategic move is positioned as a vital step towards decarbonizing the energy sector while accommodating expanding industrial needs.
