Montgomery County Goat Sanctuary Owners Charged With Animal Torture, Neglect After Fire

Erin and Michael Wiggle, owners of the House of Wiggle Goats sanctuary in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, face multiple felony and misdemeanor charges related to animal abuse, neglect, and torture following a devastating barn fire in May 2025 that killed around 40 animals. Investigations revealed that many surviving animals were severely underweight, suffering from parasites, hypothermia, and other health issues, with allegations that the sanctuary provided insufficient water, veterinary care, and food, forcing animals to eat carcasses to survive. Despite community fundraising efforts that raised over $68,000 to aid recovery, animal welfare groups and the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) reported horrific living conditions and neglect prior to the fire. The Wiggles, who operated the sanctuary as a nonprofit rescue for abused and unwanted farm animals, have not yet commented publicly on the charges but indicated they would do so after consulting their attorney. The fire's cause remains under investigation, and authorities continue to examine the full extent of neglect and cruelty at the property.
