Deputy Sheila Jones Shot Outside Houston Courthouse

Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable Sheila Jones, an Army veteran with 30 years of law enforcement experience, was shot while working security outside the Family Law Center in downtown Houston on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred after an altercation in which the suspect displayed a weapon and opened fire, injuring Jones. Deputies returned fire and wounded the suspect. Both Jones and the suspect were hospitalized in stable condition, with Jones airlifted to Memorial Hermann Medical Center.
