Twickenham to Become Allianz Stadium in Major Deal

Twickenham Stadium will be renamed Allianz Stadium starting in September, following a significant sponsorship deal between the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and the German insurance company, Allianz. This rebranding aligns Twickenham with other major venues under the Allianz name and promises substantial financial benefits to support both community and professional rugby, including the creation of an Allianz Future Fund for grassroots rugby. Despite the financial advantages, the decision has sparked controversy and discontent among traditionalists and prominent figures like Sir Clive Woodward. Additionally, due to World Cup sponsorship regulations, the stadium will temporarily revert to its original name during the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. The partnership aims to provide long-term investment and enhance visitor experiences while preserving the stadium's legacy.
