Former Contra Costa Supervisor Federal Glover Dies at 69

Federal D. Glover, the first African American elected to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, passed away at the age of 69 at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center. Glover served the county for 23 years, representing District 5, and previously held roles as mayor and city councilmember of Pittsburg. Known for his leadership, compassion, and commitment to justice and equity, he was deeply respected by colleagues and the community. Glover overcame serious health challenges, including a life-saving transplant surgery in 2015, and announced his retirement in 2023. His family and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors expressed heartfelt condolences and highlighted his lasting impact on the county.
