Massachusetts Sex Offender Faces 21 New Charges for YMCA Voyeurism

Abidan Rivera, a registered Level 2 sex offender from Brockton, Massachusetts, initially arrested in March for secretly photographing a woman showering at the East Bridgewater YMCA, is now facing 21 additional charges after a forensic examination of his phone uncovered 17 more illicit images. These images, depicting both women and children who were unaware they were being photographed, appear to have been taken in the family locker room of the YMCA. Rivera pleaded guilty to the original charge in May and is currently serving a prison sentence at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility. The new charges include counts of photographing or videotaping nude or partially nude individuals, posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity or sexual conduct, and possession of child pornography. Authorities identified Rivera through surveillance footage and eyewitness testimony during the initial investigation. The YMCA has stated their cooperation with police and emphasized the safety and well-being of all who enter their facilities as a top priority.
