Anupam Kachchap, a 32-year-old sub-inspector with the Special Branch in Ranchi, was shot dead late Friday night while returning home from a party. He was found with multiple bullet wounds on the Kanke Ring Road and was declared dead at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences. The police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder, headed by SP (rural) Sumit Agrawal, and have detained 14 individuals for questioning. Initial investigations suggest he was shot from point-blank range after diverging from his colleagues' route home. The motive for the murder remains unclear as authorities continue their investigation. This incident has raised concerns about rising crime in the area, following a similar incident involving another police officer in Gumla.
