CAS Rejects Vinesh Phogat's Olympics Appeal

Phogat had sought a joint silver medal alongside Cuba's Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, who was promoted to the final after her disqualification. Despite this setback, the Wrestling Federation of India expressed hope for a favorable outcome, emphasizing the disqualification's impact on India's medal tally. The decision, initially expected on August 13, was postponed to August 16 without clear reasons. Phogat's case has drawn attention to the stress athletes face regarding weight management during tournaments, particularly under tight schedules. The Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics secured six medals, and a successful appeal could elevate that count to seven.
