A22 Seeks Official Recognition for Unify League

The promoters of the European Super League, now rebranded as the 'Unify League', have sought official recognition from FIFA and UEFA, citing a European Court of Justice ruling that deemed UEFA's previous opposition to the league as contrary to EU law. A22 Sports Management has revised the competition's structure to include 96 teams divided into four leagues, with participation based on annual domestic league performance, and promises free live streaming of matches. The original Super League concept faced intense backlash and collapsed shortly after its announcement in 2021, but A22 claims a legal victory following the ECJ's ruling last December. UEFA has since amended its rules to comply with EU law, while A22 reported that approximately 60 of the 100 consulted teams are open to the league.
