Wolf Carbon Solutions Withdraws Iowa Pipeline Permit

Wolf Carbon Solutions has withdrawn its petition to construct a 95-mile carbon dioxide pipeline across four counties in eastern Iowa, citing delays and regulatory uncertainties. The project aimed to transport captured CO2 from Archer Daniels Midland ethanol plants in Cedar Rapids and Clinton to Illinois for underground storage. This decision follows a moratorium on new CO2 pipelines in Iowa and concerns raised by residents and environmental groups regarding safety and environmental risks. The Sierra Club hailed the withdrawal as a victory for landowners and communities, especially in light of recent accidents at CO2 facilities. Wolf indicated it may consider reapplying for the permit in the future if conditions improve. This move follows a similar withdrawal by Navigator CO2 Ventures last year, while Summit Carbon Solutions continues to pursue its pipeline plans.
