Worcester Cancels Christmas Light Switch-on Event

Worcester City Council canceled its annual Christmas Light Switch-on event due to severe weather from Storm Bert, prioritizing public safety. Instead, the lights will be activated at a safe time during the weekend, with hopes for the upcoming Victorian Christmas Fayre to proceed as scheduled, attracting over 150,000 visitors. In Blairdardie, a community event will take place on December 2, featuring Christmas carols from local school pupils. Meanwhile, La Crosse will kick off its Rotary Lights display on the day after Thanksgiving, celebrating 30 years of festive illuminations with a new tunnel lighting installation. The Mission Inn Festival of Lights in Riverside launched on November 23 with fireworks and live music, marking the start of a series of family-friendly activities. Lastly, Irvine Community Council will still illuminate its Christmas lights thanks to a donation from a local construction firm, although there will be no formal switch-on ceremony this year due to budget constraints and a shortage of volunteers.
