UCF Offensive Line Coach Shawn Clark Dies Unexpectedly at 50
Shawn Clark, the University of Central Florida's offensive line coach and former Appalachian State head coach, died unexpectedly at the age of 50 after being hospitalized following a medical emergency. He was admitted to the hospital on September 9 and remained in stable condition before passing away on September 21 with his wife, Jonelle, by his side. Clark, who joined UCF's coaching staff in December 2024, was deeply respected not only for his coaching but also for his character, passion, and dedication to his players, family, and colleagues. UCF head coach Scott Frost and UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir expressed profound sorrow, highlighting Clark's impact on the football program and the personal relationships he built. Clark is survived by his wife Jonelle and their two children, Giana and Braxton. Appalachian State, his alma mater and former employer, also extended condolences, emphasizing his legacy as a football All-American and coach.
