Two Louisiana Women Arrested for Leaving Autistic Boy Alone in Classroom

Two employees of the Caddo Parish School District, Rosie Muhammad and Cheryl Myers, were arrested and charged with child desertion after a three-year-old autistic boy was left alone in a classroom at the 81st Street Early Childhood Education Center following school hours. The boy's mother, Tekiyah Evans, became concerned when her son did not return home on the school bus and discovered he had been forgotten at school after banging on the doors for a custodian's attention. Investigators determined that the child, due to his young age and special needs, was unable to protect himself from potential dangers. The school district has taken immediate action, resulting in Muhammad's termination and Myers being placed on administrative leave. Caddo Schools Superintendent Keith Burton emphasized the importance of accountability in safeguarding children's well-being. The Shreveport Police Department thanked the school board for their cooperation in the investigation.
