Airbnb Launches Lifestyle Services and App Overhaul

Airbnb has launched a major overhaul of its app and platform, introducing new hotel-style amenities and curated experiences aimed at challenging the hotel sector. The Airbnb Services feature allows users to book personal services such as private chefs, spa treatments, trainers, and salon services in 10 categories across 260 cities, even without reserving a stay. The revamped Airbnb Experiences includes unique activities, from cultural tours to celebrity-hosted events, available in more than 650 cities, with an increased focus on vetting hosts for quality. The updated app features an Explore tab for personalized recommendations, enhanced itinerary management, and improved messaging. CEO Brian Chesky describes the changes as offering travelers both the space and local atmosphere of Airbnb homes and the amenities of hotels. This strategic shift is designed to position Airbnb as a comprehensive global travel and lifestyle platform.
