Albion Man Charged After Fatal Kalkaska County ATV Rollover
In Kalkaska County, Michigan, a side-by-side ATV accident on private property resulted in one fatality and serious injuries to two others early on Independence Day. The ATV, carrying five passengers none of whom were wearing seatbelts, rolled over around 2 a.m. in Springfield Township. A 33-year-old man from Albion, identified as the driver, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated causing death and two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury. One passenger died from the crash, another sustained a serious head injury, and a third broke an arm. Michigan State Police from the Houghton Lake Post responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash. The driver was lodged in the Kalkaska County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
