Police Chase Ends in Serious M62 Crash

A high-speed police chase on the M62 resulted in a severe crash involving a stolen Toyota Corolla and a Peugeot 306, leaving the Peugeot driver critically injured. The incident occurred around 3:15 PM, following the Toyota's failure to stop for police on the M621, leading to an authorized pursuit. The four female occupants of the Toyota were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and are currently in custody. The motorway was closed in both directions for several hours, with the eastbound lane reopening later in the evening, while the westbound lane is expected to remain closed until early Sunday morning. West Yorkshire Police have notified the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the nature of the incident. Traffic delays were reported for several hours as authorities managed the scene and conducted their investigation.
