Smyrna Wine Store Shooter Surrenders After Standoff
Renaudd Broaden, 49, was arrested after an hours-long standoff at Legacy Wine & Spirits in Smyrna, Tennessee, on July 15 following an active shooter alert. Broaden reportedly opened fire at multiple employees after an argument, prompting them to flee, and then barricaded himself inside the store for several hours. During the standoff, Broaden fired his gun, broke bottles, and shot out the front window before surrendering to police. He faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and felony theft of a firearm, with additional charges pending. No injuries were reported among store employees or police, and the store owners expressed relief at being unharmed as they begin cleanup. The incident prompted a large law enforcement response and road closures in the area.
