His ex-wife, Kiran Rao, played a pivotal role in his decision to continue, reminding him that leaving films would mean leaving behind everything. Currently, Khan is in the U.S. promoting 'Laapataa Ladies,' India's official entry for the foreign language category at the Academy Awards, which he co-produced with Rao. The film, a comedy about two swapped brides, highlights significant social issues in India, including corruption and patriarchy. Khan, part of the iconic Khan trio alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, expressed gratitude for his return to filmmaking after a brief struggle. 'Laapataa Ladies' premiered in cinemas in March and became available on Netflix the following month.
