Minnesota Boy Dies in July 4 Firework Accident
A 13-year-old boy, Michael Turner, died in Naytahwaush, Minnesota, after being struck in the chest by a firework during Fourth of July celebrations. The Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office reported that Turner was holding a large firework and pointing it away from himself when it unexpectedly shot out of the bottom of the tube and hit him. Bystanders and first responders attempted life-saving measures, but Turner was pronounced dead shortly after the incident, which occurred just after 11 p.m. The case remains under investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled. Authorities noted that current details are based on witness statements and law enforcement reports. The incident underscores the risks of fireworks, particularly for children.
