Scottish Voters Oppose Swinney's Immigration Plans

Recent polling indicates a growing divide among Americans regarding immigration policy, particularly in light of President Trump's administration. While support for stricter immigration restrictions, such as expanding the U.S.-Mexico border wall, has increased, many of Trump's more extreme measures, including mass deportation and the detainment of migrants at Guantanamo Bay, face significant opposition, especially among Democrats and independents. Approximately 47% of Republicans view immigration as a top issue, compared to only 19% of independents and 9% of Democrats. Additionally, around 30% of respondents believe current immigration restrictions are excessive, while 29% feel they are insufficient. Overall, immigration ranks as a significant concern for only 23% of Americans, lagging behind issues like inflation, which is a priority for 47% of respondents. The ACLU has raised alarms about the treatment of migrants at Guantanamo Bay, calling for legal access for those detained there.
