BYD, Saudi Electricity Company Sign 12.5GWh Energy Storage Deal

BYD Energy Storage has signed a groundbreaking agreement with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) for the development of the world's largest grid-scale energy storage project, totaling 12.5GWh, which, when combined with a previously delivered 2.6GWh project, brings their collaboration to 15.1GWh. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aiming for a 50% renewable energy mix by 2030, and will involve the deployment of energy storage systems across five sites to enhance grid stability and accommodate fluctuating renewable energy sources. The projects will utilize BYD's new-generation MC Cube-T ESS technology, known for its high energy density and efficiency. With over 75GWh of battery energy storage solutions delivered globally, BYD aims to expand its R&D and strengthen international partnerships to support the clean energy transition. This landmark collaboration highlights the increasing reliance on electrochemical energy storage solutions in addressing global energy challenges.
