Sweden, Norway, Denmark Pledge $500M to NATO Ukraine Arms Program

Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have collectively pledged nearly $500 million to a NATO-led initiative, the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), aimed at providing U.S.-made military equipment and ammunition to Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia. This contribution follows a similar $500 million package funded by the Netherlands, bringing the total to over $1 billion in support under the PURL initiative, which ensures rapid and prioritized delivery of defense systems including missiles for Patriot air defense and anti-tank weapons. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte praised the Nordic countries for their swift action and steadfast support, emphasizing that NATO members provide 99% of Ukraine's military support. The initiative is designed to strengthen Ukraine's defensive capabilities and deter aggression while peace efforts continue under President Trump's administration. The collective assistance underscores growing cooperation between NATO and these countries in backing Ukraine's defense. The Norwegian government confirmed the financial commitment, equivalent to about 5 billion Norwegian crowns, reinforcing the alliance's ongoing military support.
