Four individuals in Los Angeles have been arrested and charged with insurance fraud after attempting to claim nearly $142,000 by staging fake bear attacks on luxury cars. The suspects submitted videos to insurance companies showing what appeared to be a bear causing damage to a Rolls-Royce and two Mercedes vehicles, but investigations revealed the 'bear' was actually a person in a costume. The California Department of Insurance, assisted by law enforcement and a biologist from the Department of Fish and Wildlife, confirmed the fraudulent nature of the claims after examining the videos and finding a bear costume during a search of the suspects' home. This scheme, dubbed 'Operation Bear Claw,' exploited the known issue of bears entering vehicles in California but was ultimately foiled by detailed scrutiny. The accused, identified as Ruben Tamrazian, Ararat Chirkinian, Vahe Muradkhanyan, and Alfiya Zuckerman, face charges of insurance fraud and conspiracy. The case is being prosecuted by the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.
