Drivers face major diversions as roads close across UK
Motorists in several UK regions face significant diversions due to road closures for essential repairs and maintenance. In Exmoor National Park, the closure of the A396 at Cutcombe Hill from May 15 to May 30 will require drivers to take a detour of more than 30 miles, with the road accessible only outside weekday working hours. Similarly, in Suffolk, overnight emergency repairs on the A1071 near Hadleigh Road will result in a 35-mile diversion for larger vehicles, with alternative routes usable by smaller vehicles. In Leicestershire, repairs on Station Road in Narborough will close the road between the level crossing and Riverside Way on May 15 and 16, forcing drivers to take a nearly four-mile diversion and expect delays. These measures are being implemented to ensure public and worker safety during necessary infrastructure upgrades, though local authorities acknowledge the inconvenience and urge drivers to plan accordingly.
