Ireland's Ní Riain and Turner Compete at Paralympics

Róisín Ní Riain narrowly missed a podium finish in the women's S13 100-meter butterfly final at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, clocking in at 1:06.04, just behind Uzbekistan's Muslima Odilova. Ní Riain, who holds the world record in the 200-meter backstroke and is the current World Para Swimming champion in the 100-meter backstroke, will compete in her strongest discipline, the S13 100-meter backstroke, on Friday evening. Nicole Turner finished sixth in the S6 50-meter freestyle final with a time of 35.65 seconds, not improving on her heat time. Team Ireland has a busy schedule on the first day, with nine athletes competing across swimming, cycling, and archery. Despite the mixed results, the team remains optimistic for the upcoming events.
