Harrisburg Breaks Ground on New 3,300-Square-Foot Coronet Park
Harrisburg is developing Coronet Park on the site of the former Coronet Restaurant, which was destroyed by fire in 1994 and demolished in 2017. The new 3,000-plus square foot outdoor venue will feature a stage, seating, planters, and a plaza, designed for events, activities, and entertainment, with completion expected by early 2026. Adjacent to the park, the Menaker Building is undergoing renovations to include a Denim Coffee Shop, also slated to open in early 2026. This development represents a shift from previous plans for a multi-story building and is supported by Pennsylvania's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. Similar park projects are underway elsewhere, such as the Hy-Vee Center & Amphitheater in North Liberty, Iowa, which is part of a multi-phase community revitalization, and Recharge Park in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, which emphasizes sustainability with features like solar lighting and recycled materials. These projects reflect a broader trend of creating vibrant, multifunctional public spaces that foster community engagement and connectivity.
