Teens, Firefighter Rescued From Oregon Cliff
Two 14-year-old boys were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after becoming stranded on a steep cliff near God’s Thumb in Lincoln City, Oregon, an area known for frequent rescues due to unstable terrain. The operation involved North Lincoln Fire & Rescue and a Coast Guard MH-60 helicopter, which hoisted the boys and a firefighter who also became stranded while attempting to help. The teens had called 911 after realizing they could not safely move, and all three were transported uninjured to Siletz Bay State Airport. Officials highlighted that similar rescues have occurred recently, including one in May, underscoring ongoing safety concerns in this area. Authorities are urging visitors to stay on designated trails and avoid climbing from the beach to prevent future incidents. The Coast Guard emphasized the importance of preparedness and sticking to established paths when hiking.
