This policy, which he previously enforced during his tenure with the Texas Rangers, will continue into the regular season and includes a potential fine for violations, with veterans Mike Trout and Kyle Hendricks responsible for enforcement. Washington emphasized that the rule is not a punishment but a means to foster interaction among players, as he believes it can lead to a better clubhouse atmosphere. So far, both Trout and fellow player Zach Neto have reported positive outcomes from the rule. The Angels, coming off a dismal 63-99 season, are hoping this initiative will help improve their performance and team dynamics in the upcoming season. Washington is also committed to upholding the same standards for himself, stating he should be equally accountable if caught using a phone in the clubhouse.
