Plug Power, Olin Commission 15 tPD Hydrogen Plant in Louisiana

Plug Power and Olin Corporation have commissioned a 15-ton-per-day hydrogen liquefaction plant in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, through their joint venture, Hidrogenii. This facility, among the largest of its kind in North America, will liquefy hydrogen produced by Olin for nationwide distribution, primarily serving Plug’s material handling customers and leveraging a new spot pricing market. The plant boosts Plug Power’s total hydrogen production capacity to 40 tons per day and marks a significant milestone in strengthening the regional hydrogen supply chain and advancing the U.S. transition to low-carbon energy. Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh highlighted the facility’s role in enhancing the company’s financial position by providing a reliable, cost-effective hydrogen source and reducing dependence on third-party suppliers. Olin’s leadership emphasized that the joint venture aligns with their strategic focus on high-value opportunities supporting capital allocation goals. The Hidrogenii partnership, established in 2022, aims to meet growing domestic demand for hydrogen and solidifies both companies’ positions in the evolving green hydrogen economy.
