LA28 Unveils Dates, Venues, and New Olympic Events

The LA28 Organizing Committee has released a detailed competition schedule for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, with the Games set to open on July 14 and conclude on July 30. Opening ceremonies will take place at both the LA Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium, while preliminary events in several sports will begin before the official start. Athletics will be held in the first week, with swimming taking place in week two at SoFi Stadium, reversing the traditional order. The Games will feature a record 351 medal events, including the debut of flag football, cricket, lacrosse, and squash, as well as the return of baseball and softball. Competitions will be hosted at venues across Southern California and Oklahoma. Organizers emphasize the ongoing expansion of youth sports initiatives like PlayLA as a lasting legacy for the city.
