Barberton police arrested 38-year-old Christopher D. Wilson of Akron after finding him with a loaded firearm and multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in his vehicle on North Van Buren Avenue. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., prompting officers to secure the gun and isolate the explosives while closing the road between East Ford Avenue and East Baird Avenue for approximately two hours. The Summit County Bomb Squad arrived to safely secure the devices, and no injuries were reported. Wilson was charged with weapons and drug offenses and is being held at Barberton City Jail ahead of his arraignment in Barberton Municipal Court. Police continue to investigate the case to gather additional information. The street was reopened to traffic at about 8:35 p.m.
