Mohammed Kudus Completes £55m Transfer from West Ham to Tottenham

Mohammed Kudus' transfer saga this summer saw Chelsea initially leading the pursuit, agreeing personal terms with the Ghanaian winger and offering West Ham a €46 million plus Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall swap deal; however, West Ham rejected this, and Chelsea's lack of further commitment led to the deal collapsing. Tottenham Hotspur then emerged as the decisive suitor, making a formal £55 million offer which was accepted, with Kudus choosing Spurs due to assurances of more playing time and the club's determination to sign him. Kudus was surprised by Tottenham's interest while on holiday and ultimately pledged his commitment to Spurs over Chelsea, becoming a key player early in the 2025-26 season with multiple assists. The transfer marked the first player movement between West Ham and Tottenham since 2011. Tottenham's manager Thomas Frank is optimistic about leveraging Kudus' talent in upcoming fixtures, particularly against his former club West Ham, where Kudus is expected to be motivated to perform. Chelsea, despite heavier overall spending in the summer, missed out on securing Kudus and also saw other transfer targets like Xavi Simons and Eberechi Eze slip to Tottenham.
