Prosecutors Seek to Seal Evidence in Read Case

In the case against former Madison County engineer Rudy Warnock, a federal judge has decided to seal evidence, restricting access to exhibits at the request of the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Warnock faces charges of bribery and wire fraud connected to his tenure at Canton Municipal Utilities. Meanwhile, in a separate legal matter, prosecutors in the Karen Read murder case have also requested the sealing of certain evidence, citing its potential relevance to an unrelated criminal case. The judge approved the motion, supported by Read's defense, to protect the privacy and safety of witnesses and the victim's family. Read, accused of killing her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe, with her vehicle, claims she was framed, arguing O'Keefe was killed inside an officer's home. Her first trial ended in a hung jury, with a retrial scheduled for April 2025.
