Ben Wheatley’s Experimental Sci-Fi Bulk Premieres Edinburgh Festival

Ben Wheatley, known for his diverse filmography ranging from horror to blockbuster shark movies, has directed a new experimental sci-fi film titled Bulk, which will premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival's Midnight Madness strand on August 14. The film centers on Corey Harlan, who must navigate a multidimensional house created by a string theory experiment gone awry, where doors lead to other worlds. Wheatley describes Bulk as a "midnight movie" featuring car chases, gunfights, sci-fi, and romance, evoking the kaleidoscopic and free-spirited style of his earlier works like In the Earth and A Field in England. The cast includes Sam Riley, Alexandra Maria Lara, Noah Taylor, and Mark Monero, with production and financing by Rook Films and Film4. Festival organizers and producers have praised the film as a unique and mind-bending experience that fits perfectly with the Midnight Madness program. Bulk also has a special preview screening scheduled at Bradford Pictureville on August 16, with Wheatley and cast in attendance.
