Despite her disappointment upon watching the film, she acknowledged that everything happens for a reason. The role eventually went to Anne Hathaway, who, along with Meryl Streep, helped make the film a massive success, earning $327 million at the box office and two Oscar nominations. Hudson also noted that scheduling conflicts are common in Hollywood, making it difficult for actors to participate in certain projects. Other actresses, including Rachel McAdams and Scarlett Johansson, were also considered for the role before Hathaway was ultimately cast.
